Our Alpacas At Winterbrook Farm, the father/daughters team has two simple missions: (1) To breed world-class alpacas (every operational and management action we undertake here is taken with that mission in mind) and; (2) To live a healthy, happy and intellectually challenging life - for this and for generations to come.
We breed both Suri and Huacaya; currently slightly over half the herd is Huacaya. At our current breeding pace, we will welcome 10 new crias in 2007 and another 14 in 2008. Our business strategy calls for a leveling off of our herd growth after 2008 at which time we will maintain a herd of 30-40 very high quality females and 3-5 champion quality herdsires. Over time we will be reducing our Huacaya herd while balancing that decrease with an increase in Suri.
